Evaporator Superheat Check
Suction Pressure Measurement
Select the method used to measure suction pressure
Enter the suction pressure at the bulb location
Temperature Measurement
Enter the temperature of the suction line at the thermostatic expansion valve bulb location
Saturated Temperature Conversion
Convert the suction pressure to saturated evaporator temperature using a Pressure-Temperature chart and enter the value
Superheat Calculation
Calculate and enter the actual superheat at the evaporator (subtract saturated temperature from actual suction line temperature)
Initial 1 Day Condensing Unit Compressor Check
Pre-Start Checks
Ensure a qualified refrigeration mechanic is present
Verify all installations are complete
Initial Start-Up
Is the compressor performance satisfactory during the initial start-up?
Monitor the performance of moving components
First Day Operation Monitoring
Is the compressor performance satisfactory throughout the first operating cycle?
Are all moving components functioning correctly during the first day?
Condensing Unit Leak Testing
Initial Leak Testing
Pressurize the system to a maximum of 150 psig (1136 kPa) with dry nitrogen
Is the system free of major leaks?
Detailed Leak Testing for A1 Refrigerants
Discharge the initial dry nitrogen charge and add refrigerant to raise the system pressure up to 10 psig (170 kPa)
Add dry nitrogen to increase the system pressure to a maximum of 150 psig (1136 kPa)
Use an electronic leak detector to check for leaks
Hold the pressure for a minimum of 12 hours
Recheck the system for leaks after 12 hours
Condensing Unit Start-Up Check
Pre-Start Checks
Verify all connections are tight
Check compressor crankcase oil level (if equipped with sight glass)
Ensure proper installation of compressor components
Check that compressor discharge and suction shut-off valves are open
Control and Safety Adjustments
Ensure all pressure and safety controls are adjusted properly
Check and adjust room thermostat for normal operation
Motor and Fan Inspection
Compressor Superheat Check
Compressor Suction Superheat Measurement
Measure the suction pressure at the suction service valve of the compressor
Measure the suction temperature of the suction line about 6 inches (15 cm) back from the compressor suction valve using an accurate thermometer
Calculate the actual superheat at the compressor
Superheat Evaluation
Is the suction superheat within the range of 20 to 45 °F (11.2 to 25.2 °C)?
Adjustment of Suction Superheat
Is adjustment to the suction superheat required?
Select the method used for adjusting the suction superheat
