1 Yearly Chiller Leak Test
- Shut down the chiller once each year to check the items for Leak Test Chiller
1. Check purge times and unit performance logs. If warranted, pressure leak test
2. Review oil analysis. If required, submit refrigerant sample for analysis
3. Inspect unit for any signs of refrigerant or oil leakage
4. Check unit for any loose screws on flange, volutes, or casing
WARNING
Explosion Hazard!
Failure to follow safe leak test procedures below could result in death or serious injury or equipment or property-only-damage
Never use an open flame to detect gas leaks. Use a leak test solution for leak testing
Initial 1 Month Waterbox Maintenance
Trane recommends that coated waterboxes/tubesheets - regardless of the type of protective coating included - be taken out of service within the first one to three months of operation for inspection.
Any voids or defects identified upon inspection?
If voids or defects are identified, they must be repaired.
Is the water quality known to be highly supportive of corrosion (i.e., sea water, etc.)?
If yes, inspect the coating system at one month.
Is the water quality known to be relatively benign (i.e., normal treated and clean condenser water)?
If yes, inspect the coating system within three months.
Did the initial inspections show no problems?
Only when initial inspections show no problems are present should subsequent maintenance intervals be increased.
2 Monthly Sacrificial Anodes Replacement
- The replacement schedule for the optional zinc or magnesium anodes can vary greatly with the aggressiveness of the water that is in the system
- Some sites could require anode replacement every two to three months while other sites may require anode replacement every two to three years
1. Trane recommends inspection of anodes for wear sometime within the first several months of the anodes being placed into service
2. If the observed loss of anode material is small, then the interval between subsequent inspections can be lengthened
3. Replace the anode and/ or shorten the inspection interval if the anode has lost 50 percent or more of its original mass
4. If anode depletion occurs very quickly, consult a water treatment specialist to determine if the anode material selected is correct for the application
NOTICE
Equipment Damage!
Failure to follow instructions could result in equipment damage
1 Yearly Starter/Adaptive Frequency Drive Inspection
- Shut down the chiller once each year to check the items of Starter or Adaptive FrequencyTM Drive
1. Inspect starter contacts
2. Check all connections per manufacturer specifications
3. Follow all manufacturer recommendations for starter or Adaptive FrequencyTM Drive (AFD) maintenance
4. Inspect/clean/service the AFD cooling system (water- or air-cooled AFD)
5. Record all applicable starter or starter component settings;
