Ensure no contact gel is used during the discharge test.

Set the ENERGY SELECT dial to 'ECG MON ON' position to activate the self-diagnostic function.

Is the 'READY' message displayed on the CRT screen?

If any message other than 'READY' appears, refer to Section 7-3 and describe the issue.

Select the TEST mode using the LEAD select key.

Press the SYNC MODE select key to illuminate the SYNC mode indicator lamp.

Visually inspect the battery for any damage such as cracks, deformations, or electrolyte leakage on the terminals.

Is the battery damaged or leaking?

Replace the battery if necessary.

Clean the battery if it is dirty.

Store the spare battery in a dry, cool place.

Is the battery fully charged before storing?
