Preventative Maintenance Cleaning Procedure

Ensure ice is not on the evaporator

Open the front door to access the evaporator

Wait until the water trough refills and the display indicates Add Chemical (approximately 1 minute)

Add the proper amount of ice machine cleaner

Close and secure the front door

Note any issues or observations during the cleaning process

Ensure the area around the ice machine is clear of obstructions

Gather cleaning materials (damp cloth, mild dish soap, clean soft cloth)

Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth rinsed in water to remove dust and dirt

If greasy residue persists, use a damp cloth rinsed in a mild dish soap and water solution

Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth

Ensure no steel wool or abrasive pads are used for cleaning

Disconnect electric power to the ice machine head section and the remote condensing unit at the electric service switches

Shine a flashlight through the condenser to check for dirt between the fins

Blow compressed air or rinse with water from the inside out (opposite direction of airflow)

Is there any dirt remaining after cleaning?

If dirt still remains, call a service agent to clean the condenser

Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles (and/or face shield) when handling Ice Machine Cleaner or Sanitizer.

Ensure Manitowoc approved Ice Machine Cleaner and Sanitizer are used.

Open the front door to access the evaporator compartment.

Ensure no ice is on the evaporator during the clean/sanitize cycle.

Remove all ice from the bin/dispenser.

Press the Cleaning button and wait for the water trough to refill.
