Chain Adjustment or Replacement

Replace the drive chain if necessary

Tighten the drive chain by turning the jack bolt clockwise

Retighten the mounting bolts once proper chain tension is achieved

Check rotor to end plates clearance

Remove end caps from bearing supports

Clean grease from bearing assemblies

Reinstall end caps onto bearing supports

Check the clearance between the rotor and the airlock end plates using a feeler gauge

Is the clearance between .003” to .004”?

Remove components for adjustment

Remove the sprockets and bushing

Remove the chain guard backplate

Remove the end plate as stated above. Mark each end plate for reinstallation on the same end of the airlock body.

Place the end plate on wooden blocks with the machined surface down.

Tap the bearing and shaft seal through the end plate using a brass rod and discard both the bearing and the shaft seal.

Turn the end plate over and install a new bearing using a brass driver.

Pack the bearing void and shaft seal using Keystone Nevastane HT/AW-2 grease.

Seat the seal by lightly tapping with a soft hammer.

Loosen the setscrew on the QD bushing

Loosen and remove all the mounting cap screws

Insert the cap screws into all the threaded jackscrew holes

Tighten all the jackscrews in small, equal amounts until the tapered surfaces of the bushing and sprocket disengage

Loosen the bushing from the shaft by inserting a screwdriver into the bushing saw slot and tapping lightly
