10H/Daily Maintenance

Check coolant level in surge tank

1. Open left side engine service door and check coolant level in surge tank (1).

Check mark

2. With engine cold, coolant level must be between MIN COLD and MAX COLD marks on surge tank.

3. If coolant is below MIN COLD mark, add coolant to surge tank. See Diesel Engine Coolant. (Section 3-1.)

4. If surge tank is empty, check for leaks and repair as necessary.

Check and clean or replace air cleaner dust unloader valve

1. Squeeze dust unloader valve (1) to remove dust from the air cleaner.

2. Check condition of dust unloader valve. Replace if hardened or damaged.

2000 Hourly Maintenance

Drain and refill transmission oil and replace filter

Check mark

1. Operate machine under load until transmission oil reaches normal operating temperature.

2. Park machine on a firm level surface.

Check mark

3. Lower bucket to ground.

Check mark

4. Move forward, neutral, or reverse (FNR) lever or switch to N (neutral).

5. Push park brake switch to ON.

6. Install frame locking bar.

Check mark

7. Shut off engine. Let machine sit for approximately 10

8. Remove bottom guard, if equipped.

250 Hourly Maintenance

Drain and refill engine oil and replace filter

Check mark

Run engine to warm oil. Park machine on a level surface and stop engine.

Check mark

Place a container under oil drain hose (1) located on front right side of fuel tank.

Check mark

Open drain valve (2) and drain oil into container. Dispose of waste oil properly. Close drain valve.

Check mark

Turn filter (3) counterclockwise and remove from base. Clean mounting surface on base.

Check mark

Fill new filter with oil and apply thin film of oil to gasket.

Check mark

Install new filter. Turn filter clockwise by hand until gasket touches mounting surface. Tighten filter 1/2-1 turn more using filter wrench.

Remove cap from fill port (4) and fill engine with oil. See Diesel Engine Oil. (Section 3-1.) Install filler cap.

Start engine and run at slow idle.

4000 Hourly Maintenance

Lower boom and bucket to ground

Turn key switch to key switch-off position (1)

Check mark

Turn key switch clockwise to key switch-start/on position (3) (Do not start engine)

Check mark

Press return-to-carry (RTC) switch (4) to OFF setting (indicator light off)

Check mark

Press and hold pilot enable/boom down switch (5) while holding the boom control lever in the float position (fully forward) for 5 seconds

Check mark

While still holding pilot enable/boom down switch, cycle each hydraulic control lever to relieve pressure

Check mark

Turn key switch to key switch-off position (1)

Check mark

Remove hydraulic reservoir filler cap (6)
