Battery Replacement

Remove the battery pack from the battery compartment by tilting it out

Replace a fully charged spare battery pack inside the battery compartment. Make sure the battery pack is oriented properly inside the compartment

IMPORTANT! Alkaline batteries cannot be recharged. The instrument’s internal circuit detects alkaline batteries and will not allow recharging. If you place the instrument in its cradle, the alkaline battery will not be recharged. The internal charging circuit is designed to prevent damage to alkaline batteries and the charging circuit when alkaline batteries are installed inside the instrument.

Lamp & Lamp Housing Maintenance

Is the lamp operational?

Check mark

If the lamp is operational, proceed with cleaning. If not, proceed with replacement.

Clean the lamp window surface and the lamp housing with GC grade methanol using a cotton swab.

Check mark

Check for any remaining film on the lamp window.

Check mark

Dry the lamp and the lamp housing thoroughly after cleaning.

CAUTION: Never touch the window surface with the fingers or anything else that may leave a film. Never use acetone or aqueous solutions.

Remove the lamp from the lamp housing if the lamp does not turn on.

Check mark

Place the lamp O-ring onto the new lamp.

Check mark

Insert the new lamp, avoiding contact with the flat window surface.
