1 Yearly Hoist Lubrication
Safety Precautions
Ensure all safety data sheets are reviewed and understood before handling lubricants.
Verify compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for handling and disposing of lubricants.
ProtectorTM Lubrication
Confirm ProtectorTM is lubricated with Century Lubricants HB-11, #3 grease.
Ensure ProtectorTM has not been degreased or disassembled.
Gear and Housing Lubrication
Wipe excess grease from ProtectorTM surfaces if gears are removed.
Degrease remaining gears and housings if necessary.
Hook Inspection
Visual Inspection
Inspect for chemical damage, deformations, or cracks on the hook.
Check for more than a 10° twist from the hook’s unbent plane.
Inspect for excessive opening or seat wear.
Ensure the latch engages the tip of the hook properly.
Latch Operation Check
Verify that the latch is not damaged or bent.
Check that the latch operates properly with sufficient spring pressure.
Ensure the latch springs back to the tip when released.

Load Chain Maintenance
Clean and Inspection
Clean the load chain with a non-acid or non-caustic type solvent.
Slack the chain and inspect each link for nicks, gouges, twisted links, and excessive wear or stretching.

Check gage lengths as indicated in Figure 15.
Is the chain worn beyond the indicated length, nicked, gouged, or twisted?
Ensure the chain is clean, free of twists, and pulled taut before measuring.
