Load Chain Maintenance
Clean and Inspection
Clean the load chain with a non-acid or non-caustic type solvent.
Slack the chain for inspection.
Inspect the chain link-by-link for issues
Is the chain worn beyond serviceable limits?
Gaging Load Chain Wear
Ensure the chain is clean, free of twists, and pulled taut before measuring.
Is the chain worn beyond the length indicated in Figure 15?
Examine hoist components for wear

Measure the twist angle of the hook
Is there excessive opening or seat wear?

1 Yearly Hoist Lubrication
Safety Precautions
Handle and dispose of lubricants as directed in applicable material safety data sheets and in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Hoist Lubrication
Ensure the ProtectorTM is lubricated with Century Lubricants HB-11, #3 grease.
Do not degrease or disassemble the ProtectorTM.
If gears are removed, wipe excess grease from ProtectorTM surfaces and degrease remaining gears and housings.
Add 7 oz. of Century Lubricants HB-11, #3 grease to gears and housing upon reassembly.
Coat the spline on the end of the drive shaft with a molydisulphide lubricant such as 'Super Herculon.'
Apply a light film of machine oil to the limit switch shaft threads at least once a year.
1 Daily Load Chain Lubrication
Preparation
Ensure the area is clean and free from obstructions
Gather necessary materials: Lubriplate Bar and Chain Oil 10-R or equivalent
Lubrication Process
Inspect the load chain for dirt and debris
Is the load chain clean?
Clean the load chain if necessary
Apply Lubriplate Bar and Chain Oil 10-R to the load chain
Ensure natural run-off and full coverage of the lubricant
Hoist Inspection
Check for external evidence of issues
Brake and Control Functions
Inspect brake for evidence of slippage
Test control functions for proper operation
Load Chain Inspection
Check load chain for proper reeving and twists

Inspect shackle and lug pins for wear
Check dead end screw in lower hook block for wear and tightness
