IMPORTANT! Electric truck batteries are heavy and awkward to handle. They are filled with a very hazardous chemical solution. On charge, they give off hydrogen and oxygen which, in certain concentrations, are explosive. And they are costly.

Travel area is clear in front of the truck

Direction control lever moved from NEUTRAL to FORWARD travel position

Right foot removed from the brake pedal and put on the accelerator pedal

Truck moves slowly forward when accelerator pedal is pushed down

Brakes apply smoothly and equally when foot is removed from the accelerator pedal and pushed down on the brake pedal

Travel area is clear behind the truck

Directional control lever put in the REVERSE travel position

Warning: This inspection requires trained personnel with PPE!

Inspect the load forks for cracks, breaks, bending and wear. The fork top surfaces should be level and even with each other. The height difference between both fork tips should be no more than 1.5% of the blade length.

WARNING! If the fork blade heel is worn down by more than 10 percents, the load capacity is reduced and the fork must be replaced.

Inspect the forks for twists and bends. Put a 2\ thick metal block

If the fork blades are obviously bent or damaged, have them inspected by a trained maintenance person before operating the truck.

Inspect the fork locating pins. Be sure they are not damaged or broken and operate freely and lock correctly. Check the fork stop pins for secure condition.

Sign off on the fork inspection

Is the truck parked on a level surface with the parking brake applied?

Is the upright in a vertical position and the fork carriage fully lowered?

Is the dipstick cleaned with a clean wiper?

Is the oil level above the LOW mark on the dipstick?

If the oil level is not above the LOW mark, specify the amount of recommended hydraulic fluid added

Is the hydraulic fluid free from contaminants?

Is the condition of the hydraulic fluid satisfactory (age, color or clarity, contamination)?

Check the function of the lift system and controls

Pull back on the tilt control lever and hold until the upright reaches the full back tilt position

Push forward on the lever to return the upright to the vertical position

Release the lever. It should spring back to the neutral position freely without assistance

Pull back on the lift control lever and raise the fork carriage to full height

Watch the upright assembly as it rises. All movements of the upright, fork carriage, and lift chains must be even and smooth, without binding or jerking

Watch for chain wobble or looseness; the chains should have equal tension and move smoothly without noticeable wobble

Release the lever. It should spring back to the center position

If the maximum fork height is not reached, this indicates there is an inadequate (low) oil level in the hydraulic sump tank or severe binding within the upright
