1 Daily Machine Lubrication
- Lubricate with few drops twice daily:
1. Way Surfaces and Lead Screws using Sunoco Waylube #1180 or equivalent
2. Milling Heads (Spindle Bearings) using S.A.E. 10 or 10W Light Oil (None on grease-packed heads)
3. Motor - None required. Motor greased for life of bearings
4. Machine - Lubricate with grease every six months as described on lubrication plate
5. Power Feed using Oil to sight level with Mobilube No. 46 S.A.E. 140
6. Shaping Attachment using Mobil 600W Oil or equivalent;
Balance Spring Replacement
Quill in maximum up position and quill lock applied
Screw 'I', hub 'j', and key 'K' removed
Screws 'L' removed, allowing housing to rotate slowly releasing spring tension
End of spring lifted from pin on the pinion shaft
Housing 'M' rotated counter-clockwise from head casting
Spring removed from housing and replaced
Spring refitted to main housing casting. Housing turned clockwise until spring locates on pin in pinion shaft
Sign off on the balance spring replacement
Brake Shoe Replacement
- Replace Back Shoe
1. Remove the top section
2. Remove the two screws "P"
3. Remove the clutch hub assembly "Q"
4. Replace the brake shoes "R"
5. Remove the bearing, drive discs and circlips from the hub assembly "Q"
6. Replace the bearing and housing "S"
7. Thread hub "B" through the bearing and reassemble the discs, etc.;
Collet Aligning Screw Replacement
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Upload a photo of the marked reference line on quill and nose cap 'S'
Set screw 'R' removed?
Nose cap 'S' unscrewed?
Lock screw 'T' and collet aligning screw 'U' removed?
Collet aligning screw 'U' replaced and checked for interference?
Lock screw 'T' replaced?
Nose cap 'S' replaced and aligned correctly?
Set screw 'R' replaced without overtightening?
Drive Belt Replacement
Drive Belt Replacement Procedure
Motor removed
Three screws 'F' removed and inserted into the adjacent tapped holes, bearing housing 'G' withdrawn
Two screws and the bushings 'H' removed
Four screws '|' and one screw 'J' removed
Four screws securing speed changer 'K' removed
Top housing 'L' removed. Tap to clear the dowels
Belt replaced
Sign off on the drive belt replacement
