Follow the Impeller removal steps (2-5 on page 12)

Remove the four bolts holding the back plate to the back housing

Loosen the nut on the idler pulley and slide it to the right to relieve tension on the belt

Slip the belt off the engine pulley and the transmission

Replace the belt with a new one

Wait for engine to cool and disconnect spark plug

Place a block of wood or another object to support and steady the unit under the axle on the side of the machine you will be working on

Chain Guard and Bearing Removal

Remove the two screws holding the chain guard and then remove the chain guard

Loosen the two nuts holding the bearing

Remove the retaining ring holding the wheel on and then slide the wheel off

Replace the chain by removing the old chain by walking it off the sprockets

Loosen the two nuts on the end of the clutch cable (item 111) going into the transmission

Adjust the position of the clutch cable on the threads

Note the position of the clutch cable on the threads

Tighten the nuts securely once the desired position is achieved

Start the machine and check the operation of the clutch cable

Reposition the nuts on the cable if the drive cable is not engaging properly

Verify the following conditions are met

BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT; DO NOT ADJUST WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING!

Loosen the nut (item 92) on the Idler pulley (item 93) but do not remove it

Slide the pulley left or right to adjust tension

Ensure the pulley is at the proper distance to apply tension to the belt
