Belt Replacement
Preparation
Wait for engine to cool
Disconnect spark plug
Impeller Removal
Follow the Impeller removal steps (2-5 on page 12)
Back Plate Removal
Remove the four bolts holding the back plate to the back housing
Belt Removal and Replacement
Loosen the nut on the idler pulley and slide it to the right to relieve tension on the belt
Drive Chain Replacement
Preparation
Wait for engine to cool
Disconnect spark plug
Stabilize the Machine
Place a block of wood or another object under the axle to support and steady the unit
Remove Chain Guard and Wheel
Remove the two screws holding the chain guard
Remove the chain guard
Loosen the two nuts holding the bearing
Clutch Cable Adjustment
Clutch Cable Adjustment Steps
Loosen the two nuts on the end of the clutch cable (item 111) going into the transmission
Adjust the position on the threads to change the tension on the clutch lever (item 113)
Is the clutch cable positioned optimally to remove any slack when disengaged?
Tighten the nuts securely once the desired position is in place
Post Adjustment Check
Start the machine and check the operation of the clutch cable
Is the drive cable engaging properly?
If not engaging properly, shut the machine off and reposition the nuts on the cable to tighten the drive cable
Belt Tension adjustment
BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT; DO NOT ADJUST WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING!
Preparation
Wait for engine to cool
Disconnect spark plug
Adjusting the Belt Tension
Loosen the nut on the Idler pulley (item 92) but do not remove it
Slide the pulley (item 93) left or right to adjust tension
Ensure the pulley is at the proper distance to apply tension to the belt
Tighten the nut on the Idler pulley
