Accumulator Charging
WARNING! If the exterior of the accumulator shows signs of rust it should be inspected by Atlas Copco.
WARNING! Before removing the accumulator always release the gas first!
Accumulator shows signs of rust?
Gas released from the accumulator?
WARNING! The accumulator(s) on the hammer are in the charged condition when the hammer is delivered. Accumulators supplied as spare parts are delivered in the uncharged condition. Do NOT charge the accumulator until it has been securely fitted to the hammer.
Accumulator securely fitted to the hammer?
WARNING! The accumulator may be charged with NITROGEN (N2) only! Use of other gases can cause an explosion.
Accumulator charged with Nitrogen (N2) only?
Enter the pressure to which the accumulator was charged
Hydraulic Breaker Maintenance
CAUTION!
Always run the hammer at the correct working pressure. See Techical Data. If the max. working pressure of the hammer is exceeded this may overload the accumulator and cause damage.
Lubrication
Hand lubrication with a grease gun
Lubricate the chisel shank generously every other hour with high-temperature grease such as Atlas Copco Tool shank grease. This also lubricates the bushings and chisel holders.
On lubrication, the chisel must be pressed against the hammer piston so that the space between the piston and the chisel does not fill with grease (Fig. 6)
For all overhead work, the bushing and chisel must be lubricated often enough to ensure that dirt does not penetrate into the hammer.;
1 Yearly Hydraulic Breaker Maintenance
CAUTION! Always run the hammer at the correct working pressure. See Technical Data. If the max. working pressure of the hammer is exceeded this may overload the accumulator and cause damage.
For safety reasons inspection and service should be done at the nearest Atlas Copco service centre, or authorised workshop.
Enter the current working pressure of the hammer
Is the working pressure within the acceptable range?
If not, describe the issues

1 Weekly Hydraulic Breaker Maintenance
CAUTION! Always run the hammer at the correct working pressure. See Technical Data. If the max. working pressure of the hammer is exceeded this may overload the accumulator and cause damage.
Clean the hammer thoroughly
Check the wear of the bushing. See Fig. 5 for maximum wear limits. Excessive wear may result in chisel breakage and damage to the piston.
Check housing and adapter plates for cracks and wear.

Chisel Replacement
CAUTION!
Remember that the large chisels are heave.
Take care, and use suitable lifting equipment when removing and fitting heavy chisels.
HBC hammers:
• Knock out the locking pin and the roll pin and remove the chisel holders one at a time.
• Remove the chisel.
• Check that the parts are not damaged or worn.
• Clean and lubricate the shank of the chisel before fitting. It is especially important to lubricate a new chisel thoroughly.
• The procedure for fitting the chisel is the reverse of the removal procedure. When fitting the roll pin, use the drift supplied.;
