Initial 3 Years Anode Rod Inspection
CAUTION
Ensure adequate drainage is available before inspection

Heating Banks Cleaning
Preparation
Turn OFF electrical disconnect switch.
Drain the heater following Draining instructions.
Open front panel.
Bank Removal
Disconnect the bank wiring.
Unscrew each bank.
Remove the banks and gaskets from the openings.
Brush loose scale from the banks.
Initial Water Heater Check
Connection Checks
Check all connections for tightness
Repair water leaks and tighten electrical connections as necessary
Power Activation
Turn on the electrical disconnect switch
Turn on the pilot toggle switch
Operational Observation
Observe the operation of the electrical components during the first heating cycle
Check temperature control and contactor operation by allowing the heater to come up to temperature and shut off automatically
Water Heater Cleaning
DANGER! Burn hazard. Keep clear of drain valve discharge outlet.
Flushing the Water Heater
Turn OFF the electrical supply to the water heater at the breaker or disconnect switch.
Ensure the cold water inlet valve is open.
Open a nearby hot water faucet and let the water run until the water is no longer hot, then close the hot water faucet.
Connect a hose to the water heater drain valve and terminate it to an adequate drain.
Ensure that the drain hose is secured before and during the entire flushing procedure.
Open the water heater drain valve to flush the storage tank.
Flush the water heater storage tank to remove sediment and allow the water to flow until it runs clean.
