Tool immersed in a commercial degreasing compound

Retaining pins are in place and secured with retaining rings

All pins, pivot points, and bearing surfaces protected with a THIN coat of SAE 20 motor oil

Tool stored with handles closed to prevent objects from becoming lodged in the crimping jaws

Tool stored in a clean, dry area

Sign off on the tool maintenance

Warning: Ensure to wear gloves and safety glasses during the procedure

Select the frequency of tool usage

Upload a photo of the tool before lubrication

Lubrication of all pins, pivot points, and bearing surfaces with SAE 20 motor oil

Wipe excess oil from tool, particularly from crimping area

Upload a photo of the tool after lubrication

Sign off on the tool lubrication

Bottoming surfaces of dies thoroughly cleaned

Test crimp made using the maximum wire load

When crimp is made, squeeze handles until the CERTI-CRIMP ratchet releases. Maintain just enough tension to keep the jaws closed.

Enter the clearance between the bottoming surfaces of the crimping jaws

If clearance is 0.025 mm [.001 in.] or less, the ratchet is satisfactory

If clearance exceeds 0.025 mm [.001 in.], the ratchet is out of adjustment and must be repaired.

Sign off on the CERTI-CRIMP Ratchet Inspection
