If the heatsink is not dusty, skip the cleaning steps and proceed to the end.

Power removed from the drive?

Cooling fan removed?

Clean compressed air blown from bottom to top?

Vacuum cleaner used at the air outlet to trap the dust?

Cooling fan reinstalled?

6 Yearly Main Cooling Fan Replacement

Warning: Only trained personnel should perform this procedure

Fan showing signs of failure (increasing noise, rising heatsink temperature)

If no signs of failure, skip the replacement procedure

Power removed from the drive

Screw attaching the fan casing removed

Cable connector disconnected

Fan replaced onto the casing’s pins

Casing reinstalled

Power restored
