Remove the relief valve assembly

Remove the retainer from the body bore

Verify the seats and springs of the first and second check modules are not interchangeable

Detach the check seats from the cage

Clean or replace the disc assembly

Clean or replace O-rings and apply FDA-approved silicon grease

Reassemble the check valve modules with the seat facing the valve inlet

Ensure modules are securely in place before replacing the retainer

Ensure the assembly is installed in an accessible location

Verify compliance with state and local codes for installation height above ground

Check if a strainer is installed ahead of the assembly

Ensure no strainer is added on seldom-used water lines

Close the downstream shutoff valve

Open the upstream shutoff valve slowly to fill the valve

Open the downstream shutoff valve slowly to fill the water supply system

Ensure no special tools are required for assembly sizes 2½" to 3"

Detach the activation module from the flood sensor

Remove the sensor from the relief valve

Remove the relief valve cover bolts

Check the relief valve spring is free inside the body

Is the relief valve seat removed for cleaning?
