Ensure the microscope is powered on and properly illuminated.

Verify that the following components are in place

Rotate left eyepiece diopter to center the 0 of the +/- adjustment scale over the index mark.

Ensure the 10x objective is centered in the optical path.

Using right eye only, adjust the focus controls until the specimen is in sharp focus.

Looking through left eyepiece, adjust left diopter until specimen image is sharp.

Rotate nosepiece turret until 10x objective clicks into optical path

Did you hear the click indicating the lens is properly indexed?

Adjust the eyepiece tubes by moving them in an arc motion to achieve one perfect circle in the field of view

Is a full field of view observed?

Record the interpupillary scale index reading for future reference
