Adjust the interpupillary distance to enable observation with both eyes.

Rotate nosepiece turret until 10x objective clicks into optical path.

Note the importance of hearing the click when changing objectives.

Adjust the eyepiece tubes by moving them in an arc motion to achieve one perfect circle in the field of view.

Is a full field of view observed?

Ensure the microscope is powered on and properly set up.

Verify that the following components are in place

Rotate left eyepiece diopter to center the 0 of the +/- adjustment scale over the index mark.

Ensure the 10x objective is centered in the optical path.

Using your right eye only, adjust the focus controls until the specimen is in sharp focus.

Look through the left eyepiece and adjust the left diopter until the specimen image is sharp.
