1 Year Hospital Bed Inspection
Inspect the bed for broken, bent, or damaged components
Inspect for damaged or loose wiring
Inspect the control boxes to ensure that the enclosures are not cracked or damaged
Inspect actuator guard bracket for any signs of deformation, excessive wear or damage
Inspect actuators to ensure enclosures are not cracked or damaged
Inspect the head-end and foot-end leg assemblies for any bend or damage
Inspect the footboard staff control, side rail controls, and pendant to ensure that the overlays covering these controls are not cracked or damaged
Inspect all grounding wires and equipotential conductor
Tighten, adjust and/or replace any parts or screws, bolts, clevis/hitch/cotter pins, etc. that are loose or show signs of wear
6 Month Obstruction Sensor Inspection
Contact at any point on each of the six obstruction sensor pads stops all downward bed motion
Bed automatically elevates the 1” safety distance
Audible and visual warnings are present
Select any obstruction sensor pad that fails to operate correctly or consistently
Sign off on the obstruction sensor inspection
6 Month Battery Inspection
Bed is plugged into an AC power outlet
Battery is connected to the CB10/CB11 control box
The power status indicator has ONLY a solid Green AC light
If other lights are on/flashing, refer to page 63 for instructions and take appropriate action before continuing with inspection
Unplug the bed from the AC power outlet and perform all bed functions, including emergency functions, to test bed operation under battery power
Battery is holding a proper charge sufficient to deliver emergency functions when needed
Replace battery if performance is inadequate
Perform all bed functions from footboard staff control
Perform all bed functions from patient/staff siderail controls
1 Year Scale Calibration
Warning: This calibration procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Bed angle calibration successful?
If bed angle calibration is not successful, report the issues to the maintenance team and stop the procedure
Bed raised to comfortable working height?
Calibration units and weight amount set correctly?
Calibration weight correctly set and exact total sum of calibration mass used?
Note: A scale is most accurate and delivers superior repeatability when it has been calibrated within the range that the scale is expected to typically operate.
Calibration masses placed correctly at patient left, head end of the bed?
Calibration masses placed correctly at patient left, foot end of the bed?
Hospital Bed Cleaning & Disinfection
Warning: Always follow industry best practices for all cleaning and/or disinfection operations.
The SpiritTM bed is not rated for spray and/or pressure washing or steam cleaning/sterilization.
Check if the bed is SpiritTM model
If the bed is not SpiritTM model, stop the procedure and report to the supervisor
Cleaning: All SpiritTM bed surfaces cleaned with soapy water and/or other non-abrasive cleaners
Disinfection: All SpiritTM bed surfaces disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and/or Mikro QuatTM (or equivalent cleaning solution)
Enter the Sodium Hypochlorite Concentration used for disinfection
Disinfected surfaces rinsed with potable (tap) water and wiped dry
Sign off on the bed cleaning and disinfection
