Lamp Replacement
Referring to Figure 28:
Pry down the lamp assembly (A) until it releases from the seat
Unscrew front plate (B) from head, pull out the plate, and disconnect the lamp wires from the electrical board. Remove old lamp assembly.
Install new lamp assembly and push it firmly into the seat. Connect the wires and reinstall front plate.
Sign off on the lamp replacement
Drill Press Maintenance
WARNING! Before doing maintenance on the machine, disconnect it from electrical supply by pulling out the plug or switching off the main switch. Failure to comply may cause serious injury.
Cleaned sawdust from the table with a brush
Applied a light film of oil to the quill and column
Cleaned the pulleys with a non-penetrating lubricant and applied a light oil to the pulley shafts
Applied grease to the rack on the column
Checked that bolts are tight and electrical cords are in good condition
Belts are in good condition with no signs of cracks, frays or deterioration
Exposed metal surfaces of table and base are clean and free of rust
Applied SAE 20 oil to the quill return spring
Drill Press Inspection
All locking handles, set screws, bolts, etc., are tight on the table and head
Drill bit is securely inserted inside chuck jaws
All items, such as tools and rags, cleared away from machine
Practiced on scrap material before regular work
Using sharp bits and proper feed rates
Sign off on the drill press inspection
Belt Replacement
WARNING! This procedure requires operating machine with pulley cover removed. Keep hands away from moving belts and pulleys.
Pulley cover removed using a long shaft screwdriver
Drill press turned on and speed increased to maximum
Drill press shut off and disconnected from power
Upper belt tension slackened
Upper belt removed from around pulleys
Drill press reconnected to power and handwheel rotated counterclockwise
Lower belt removed in same manner as upper belt
New belts installed using reverse procedure
