Disconnect power to the water pump at the circuit breaker

Unthread the Black Retaining Nut

Gently remove the Quartz Sleeve Assembly and lamp from the UV vessel

Inspect the Quartz Sleeve for dirt or slim coating

Clean the Quartz Sleeve with a soft, clean cloth

Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully unpack the UV lamp(s) from their corrugated packing tubes.

Inspect UV lamp(s) for damage including broken glass, cracks, chips, fractures, and pin holes.

Carefully unpack the clear quartz sleeve module/quartz sleeve and UV lamp from the triangle corrugated box and lay on a level, stable surface.

Inspect quartz sleeve assembly and UV lamp for shipping damage.

Quartz Sleeve Removal and Inspection

Remove the quartz sleeve by unthreading the Black Retaining Nut.

Inspect quartz sleeve for damage including chips, cracks, and pin holes.

Disconnect power to the water pump at the circuit breaker

Remove UV lamp from the quartz sleeve

Unplug the UV lamp from the connector/power cord

Grasp the white 4-pin lamp connector with a pair of pliers while standing on the power cord itself

Pull hard, while twisting slightly to disconnect the connector

Wire Inspection and Preparation

Turn off the water pump at the circuit breaker

Ensure all flow to the unit has been stopped

Refer to pages 5-6 for 'Quartz Sleeve Assembly'

Refer to pages 9-10 for 'UV Lamp Installation' (in reverse order) to disassemble the unit

Check the following components for integrity and proper installation

Plumb the SMART UV in-line into a filter system using chosen plumbing hardware.

Was PVC glue used? If yes, follow the glue manufacturer's instructions.

Use a bypass assembly for greater water flow control.

Ensure the clear quartz sleeve module is securely in place.

Remove the UV lamp from the quartz sleeve module.

Roll-up paper towels to create a core approximately ¾” in diameter, 10” long.

Slide the paper towel core into the open quartz sleeve module port, inserting about six inches into the quartz sleeve.
