Disconnect power to the water pump at the circuit breaker

Remove UV lamp from the quartz sleeve

Unplug the UV lamp from the connector/power cord

Grasp the white 4-pin lamp connector with a pair of pliers while standing on the power cord itself

Pull hard, while twisting slightly to disconnect the connector

Wire Inspection and Preparation

Plumb the SMART UV in-line into a filter system using chosen plumbing hardware

Use a bypass assembly for greater water flow control

Ensure the clear quartz sleeve module is securely in place

Remove the UV lamp from the quartz sleeve module

Roll-up paper towels to create a core approximately ¾” in diameter, 10” long

Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully unpack the UV lamp(s) from their corrugated packing tubes.

Inspect UV lamp(s) for damage including broken glass, cracks, chips, fractures, and pin holes.

Quartz Sleeve Removal and Inspection

Carefully remove the quartz sleeve by unthreading the Black Retaining Nut.

Inspect quartz sleeve for damage including chips, cracks, and pin holes.

Reassemble the quartz sleeve back into the UV vessel.

If installing the unit, perform the Mandatory Water Test.

Turn off the water pump at the circuit breaker

Ensure all flow to the unit has been stopped

Check the Quartz Sleeve for cracks or breakages

Verify the Quartz Sleeve Gasket and O-ring are properly installed

Ensure the Quartz Sleeve Retaining Nut is tightened completely

Repeat the mandatory water test until there are no indications of a leak

Disconnect power to the water pump at the circuit breaker

Unthread the Black Retaining Nut

Gently remove the Quartz Sleeve Assembly and lamp from the UV vessel

Inspect the Quartz Sleeve for dirt or slim coating

Clean the Quartz Sleeve with a soft, clean cloth
