Ensure the unit is free from dust, dirt, grease, and foreign matter

Inspect burner ports and pilot burner orifices for cleanliness and damage

Air Shutters and Main Burner Orifices

Inspect air shutters and main burner orifices for cleanliness and damage

Clean heat exchanger tubes from the bottom with a stiff non-wire brush

Check heat exchanger for cracks and discoloration of the tubes

Motor Inspection and Lubrication

Is the motor permanently lubricated?

Check the motor for lubrication if not permanently lubricated

Check the fit of the fan on the motor shaft

Clean any dust, dirt, or foreign matter from the fan blades

Blower Bearings Inspection and Maintenance

Check blower bearings for unusual wear

Were the blower bearings lubricated according to manufacturer's recommendations?

Were any blower bearings replaced?

Inspect belts for wear and tension

Lower bottom pan to expose burner and manifold

Disconnect pilot tubing at the combination gas control

Disconnect thermocouple lead or ignition cable at the combination gas control

Lower bottom pan to expose burner and manifold (see fig. 13.1)

Disconnect pilot tubing and thermocouple lead (or ignition cable) at the combination gas control (and ignition control)

Disconnect control wires for the combination gas control

Disconnect gas manifold at ground union joint

Remove the two screws holding the manifold to the heat exchanger support
