Current Control Two-Terminal Resistance Calibration
Initial Setup
Check the PRECISION VOLTMETER (M1) for 'zero' reading and correct, if necessary, with the PREAMP 'B' ZERO CONTROL.
Calibration of EXT. CURRENT CONTROL
Set EXT. CURRENT CONTROL to its maximum resistance.
Observe M1 and calibrate the ATE output current to the exact maximum rated value by adjusting the EXT. I₀ CAL. control.
Re-check Zero Point
Set EXT. CURRENT CONTROL to zero ohms again.
Re-check the previously calibrated zero point on M1 and correct with the PREAMP 'B' ZERO control if required.
Voltage Control Setup
Power Supply Current Channel Calibration
Preparation
Ensure the following equipment is available
Select R_M such that a convenient range on the precision voltmeter can be used (e.g., 0.1 ohm for 1 ampere output current)
Calibration Steps
Close S1 and set CURRENT CONTROL SIGNAL to zero
Check the PRECISION VOLTMETER (M2) for 'zero' reading and correct with the power supply 'I₀ ZERO' control if necessary
Set CURRENT CONTROL SIGNAL to its maximum value
Observe M2 and calibrate the power supply output current to the exact maximum rated value by adjusting the external control voltage (Channel B, full-scale cal. control)
Set CURRENT CONTROL SIGNAL to zero again
Power Supply Two-Terminal Resistance Calibration
Initial Setup
Check the PRECISION VOLTMETER (M1) for 'zero' reading and correct, if necessary, with the PREAMP 'A' ZERO control.
Voltage Calibration
Set EXT. VOLTAGE CONTROL to its maximum resistance.
Observe M1 and calibrate the ATE output voltage to the exact maximum rated value by adjusting the EXT. I₀ CAL. control.
Zero Point Re-Check
Set EXT. VOLTAGE CONTROL to zero ohms again.
Re-check the previously calibrated zero point on M1 and correct with the PREAMP 'A' ZERO control if required.
Current Control Setup
Power Supply Check
Initial Setup
Connect power supply to 115V a-c source or refer to par. 2-4 for other input voltages, if required.
Turn CURRENT CONTROL fully clockwise.
Turn VOLTAGE CONTROL fully counterclockwise.
Voltage Check
Turn A-C POWER SWITCH/CIRCUIT BREAKER 'on'.
Is the VOLTAGE VIX indicator energized?
Observe and record the gradual increase of the output voltage as VOLTAGE CONTROL is turned clockwise.
Does the VOLTMETER read full scale?
Power Supply External Control Signal Calibration
Voltmeter Calibration
Check the PRECISION VOLTMETER (M1) for 'zero' reading and correct, if necessary, with the ATE E₀ ZERO control.
Set the MODEL SN-488 input to 10 volts and observe M1.
Calibrate the ATE output voltage to the exact maximum rated output voltage using the SN-488 calibration control.
Zero Point Verification
Set the MODEL SN-488 output to 'zero' and check the previously calibrated zero point on M1.
Correct with the ATE E₀ ZERO control if required.
Current Control Setup
Set the ATE front panel CURRENT CONTROL according to your load requirements.
