Place block of wood underneath pump barrel to stabilize pump during disassembly

Thread pipe into pump inlet port to act as a handle

Remove the discharge head using the pipe wrench, turning CCW (counter clockwise)

Loosen the barrel with the strap wrench, turning CCW (counter clockwise)

Inspect component parts of the cartridge (stage) assembly for damage, wear, or heat distortion

Check spacing direction of components and location of shims

Reassemble pump following the reverse order of disassembly

Ensure proper replacement of the rotary seal

Ensure all required tools are available
