CAUTION: The combustion chamber (firepot) is fragile. Use care when inspecting and cleaning this area.

Heat Exchanger and Flue Pipe Maintenance

Shut off power to the furnace before cleaning.

Remove the burner before cleaning.

Inspect the heat exchanger and flue pipe for scale and soot.

Clean the inside of the drum and flue pipe with a stiff brush and wire handle.

Remove the flue connector to inspect and clean the flue pipe area.

Remove round covers on the inner front panel to access cleaning ports.

Inspect the air filter(s) for cleanliness and damage

Was the filter cleaned or replaced?

Inspect for signs of oil leaks near the oil burner

Check for soot forming on any external part of the furnace

Inspect for soot forming around the joints in the vent pipe

Advise your service or installation contractor if any issues are found
