Hold onto the HTD sprocket and pull the shaft out of the hub

Remove the set screw from the transmission sprocket (see Figure 21)

Remove the sprocket and key from the shaft

Drive Shaft Assembly Removal

Remove the bottom cover

Remove the step chain retainers

Check mark

Support the pedal arm and unhook the pedal arm return spring from the spring hanger. Lift the step chain up and off the clutch sprocket and lower the pedal arm to the floor. Repeat on the other side.

Remove the snap ring from the left end of the drive shaft

Check mark

Wear eye protection when removing snap rings

Check mark

Remove the drive chain

Check mark

Remove the sprocket and the other small parts from the left side of the hub assembly

Check mark

Slide the drive shaft to the right, out of the hub assembly

Check mark

Loosen and remove the two remaining bolts and nuts that hold the hub assembly to the frame. Remove the hub assembly.
