Raise the rails to the highest position and apply the brakes

Lift the base hood, separating the Velcro fasteners holding it to the base, and support it using bungee cords

Using a 1/2” combination wrench and a 1/2” socket, remove the four locknuts (B) and four bolts (A) holding the fifth wheel assembly to the support plates (C, M). Lower the assembly to the ground and remove it by taking the assembly out underneath the base frame

Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the locknut and bolt (D) holding the caster to the wheel arms (E). Remove the caster

Move the left support plate (C) towards the Brake / Steer pedal (F) to disengage the swing arm and torsion level assembly from the support plates

Using a 1/2” combination wrench, remove the locknut (G) holding the spring hook to the bolt

Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the two locknuts (J), four shoulder spacers and two bolts (H) holding the top part of the counter lever to both fifth wheel torsion levers

Using a 1/2” combination wrench and a 3/16” Allen wrench, remove the two locknuts (L) and two bolts (K) holding the torsion levers to both ends of the fifth wheel shaft

Remove the defective wheel arm assembly

Raise the litter and the rails to the highest position and apply the brakes.

Lift the base hood, separating the Velcro fasteners holding it to the base, and support it using bungee cords.

Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the locknut (N), nylon shoulder spacer (P), washer (R) and bolt (S) holding the connecting rod to the brake pedal shaft.

Using a 1/2” combination wrench and a 1/2” socket, remove the four locknuts (B) and four bolts (A) holding the fifth wheel assembly to the support plates (C, M). Lower the assembly to the ground and remove it by taking the assembly out underneath the base frame.

Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the locknut and bolt (D) holding the caster to the wheel arms (E). Remove the caster.

Move the left support plate towards the Brake / Steer pedal (F) to disengage the swing arm and torsion lever assembly from the support plates.

Using a 1/2” combination wrench, remove the locknut (G) holding the spring hook to the bolt.

Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the two locknuts (J), four shoulder spacers and two bolts (H) holding the top part of the counter lever to both fifth wheel torsion levers.

Using a 1/2” combination wrench and a 3/16” Allen wrench, remove the two locknuts (L) and two bolts (K) holding the torsion levers to both ends of the fifth wheel shaft.

Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!

Removal of the top half of the Siderail Upper Plastic Cover successful?

Removal of the access door successful?

Removal of the colored label affixed to the outside of the lower cover of the access door successful?

Removal of the four screws holding the bottom half of the lower cover to the top half of the lower cover successful?

Separation of the two halves of the lower cover successful?

Removal of the bottom half of the access door lower cover successful?

Removal of the two Allen screws holding the top half of the lower hinge mechanism to the siderail lower structural member successful?

Removal of the colored label affixed to the outside of the upper cover of the access door successful?

Four screws holding the top half of the upper cover removed successfully

Upper cover separated and removed successfully

Eight screws holding the upper structural member removed successfully

Two Allen screws holding the hinge and structural member removed successfully

Hinge and upper structural member removed successfully

Two screws holding the defective release knob removed successfully

Colored label removed from the outside of the lower cover of the access door

Four screws (O) removed from the bottom half of the lower cover (P) using a #1 Phillips screwdriver

Lower cover halves separated using a small regular screwdriver

Access door upper cover removed

Eight screws (X) removed from the lower end of the posts using a #2 Phillips screwdriver

Two Allen screws (AA) removed from the hinge (I) and the last post using a 5/32” Allen wrench

Access door lower cover installed
