Verify link status on both sides

If the port LED does not turn on

Connect the cable from the switch to a known good device

Ensure both ends of the cable are connected to the correct ports

Verify that both devices have power

Verify that you are using the correct cable type

Check for loose connections by disconnecting and reconnecting the cable

Is any port error-disabled, disabled, or shut down?

Re-enable the port if necessary

Verify the status of all PoE ports

Is any PoE port error-disabled, disabled, or shut down?

Re-enable the PoE port if necessary

Examine the cable for marginal damage or failure.

Check for subtle damage to the wiring or connectors.

Exchange the cable with a known good cable.

Try the cable in another port to see if the problem follows the cable.

Inspect cable connectors for issues

Remove and inspect the stack cable and stack port for bent pins or damaged connectors.

Inspect the network module and SFP module

Verify that the module is supported on this platform

Use the show interfaces privileged EXEC command to check port or module status

Ensure all fiber connections are clean and securely connected

Get a replacement switch with the same model number as the failed switch

Ensure the replacement switch is off and the FlexStack module is installed

Connect the replacement switch to the stack

Replicate connections from the failed switch to the replacement switch

Reinstall any modules and make cable connections

Power on the replacement switch
