Oil Leaks and External Inspection

Inspect for oil leaks, external seals, and gaskets

Identify the type of yellow oil level plug

Is the oil level more than 3 mm below the spill level?

Top up oil if level is below the spill level

Identify and describe the reason for the drop in oil level

Does the oil level lie between the MIN and MAX markings on the dipstick?

Restore the correct oil level if it lies outside the MIN and MAX markings

Schedule regular cleaning programme for all surfaces and recesses

Implement cleaning programme to avoid dust build-ups of more than 5 mm in depth

Measure surface temperature at the coupling between the gearbox and motor

Measure surface temperature at points most shielded from motor’s fan ventilation

Is the maximum surface temperature within 75 K (90 K for W 110 gearbox) above ambient temperature?

Check the condition of the previously installed heat sensor

Is the gearbox lubricated for life?

Change the synthetic oil and bearing grease if not lubricated for life.

Have all externally accessible seal rings been replaced due to prior issues?

Replace all externally accessible seal rings if not already done.

Has a general overhaul been performed earlier due to malfunctioning?

Perform a general overhaul of the gearbox if not done earlier.

Check the oil level according to the tables provided in the 'LUBRICATION' section of the manual

Is the oil level within the specified range?

Check for signs of lubricant leaks near the gearbox

Identify the cause of anomalies and describe necessary repairs

Top up the lubricant level before putting the gearbox back into service

Check the condition of polymer bushes on gearboxes with reaction arms

Do the polymer bushes show any signs of fatigue or damage?

Replacement of Damaged Polymer Bushes

Replace damaged polymer bushes with original spare parts

Verify that all replaced polymer bushes are securely installed
