Weekly Vacuum Drum Cleaning

Heat roller unit

Slitter/sealing roller unit

Rotary knife unit

Turn out screws in the takeup screw mounts in lower idler roller; tilt roller out of the machine

Remove the 4 bolts fastening the upper idler roller to the back plate (2 front, 2 rear)

Slide back plate away, lower the belt with the idler roller

Move the belt from under the drum and place under the conveyor

Disconnect the lower end of the conveyor from the 2 support brackets (front and rear) and place down carefully

Position drum lift jack under the drum so that the rollers of the lift touch the drum

Reach into drum and unbolt 8 captive fastener bolts

Loosen set screw in drum shaft bearing

Remove front bearing structural support by removing the 9 SHCS's

Ensure drum is secure then slide drum out

Move drum to wash station

Remove and save allen plugs from each of the blocks in the front plate of the drum

Insert nozzle of pressure washer into each plug hole and wash out each block with water temp of 170 degrees

Once all blocks have been cleaned, use an air nozzle to blow through channels to dry them

With drum securely on the jack, align back end of drum shaft with locating pin; push fully forward until seated

Install structural support onto drum shaft and secure all 9 SHCS's

Tighten set screw in the drum shaft bearing

Reach into the drum and tighten 8 captive fastener bolts

Reinstall conveyor belt

Remove vacuum hoses from rear of the machine and clean throughly; reinstall

Clean filter canister and clean vortex filter; reinstall

Remove and clean filter and canister on vacuum Line in the vacuum room; reinstall

Remove LOTO

Remove all tools and debris from area when maintenance activities have been concluded. All loose metal objects on equipment, equipment covers, and overheard structures must be tightly fixed or removed
