Health and Safety Procedure when accessing a CNC and assembly technology machines machines

Health and Safety (Millwright)

• Always be sure that the CNC or the assembly technology machine is free(no product in process)

• If possible send the machine to home position

• LOTO before servicing (Communication with the operator is mandatory before and after the intervention)

• LOTO the main air supply and bleed the air from the tank(air supply for the specific machine)

• PPE are mandatory (make sure that the personnel equipment are in a good state before usage)

• Make sure that all the tools are safe to use (choice and state of tools are to be checked before usage)

• Don't lift more than 50 lbs. especially in awkward positions (bent, crouch)

• Never put yourself between two mechanical parts especially if the parts are mobile both or one of them

• Never work under a weight (if the job demands to crouch under a table for example, use a bracing just in case)

• If you have to go above the machine check the status of the appropriate ladder to use(use is properly with a safe manner and put the date on the check tag for record)

• Watch your steps above the machine and move slowly(the height is not requiring to attach yourself)

• Always watch you hands when using mechanical tools especially with stubborn bolts and nuts(can result to a sever injury after the non controlled release of the tool)

• Avoid pinch points (sever injury can occur if you get caught)

• Always watch the surrounding while intervening and if you are not aware about the maintenance procedure better to follow with the manufacturer(it is really unsafe to disassemble mechanical parts with out knowledge)

• Inspection after the intervention is required to make sure the job is well done and no tools are left inside the perimeter

Health and Safety Nail/Staple Guns change or (Instrumentation and automation intervention)

• If possible Send the machine to home position

• If you can not send it to home position(because of a sensor failure for example, the health and safety steps will be the same except how to access the sensor)

• Rely on the safety engineering technology

• Push the safety doors to actuate the light curtains and the X+,X- laser sensors

• Push the emergency Stop buttons(the one beside the monitor and the other emergency Stop buttons)

• Communicate with the operator regarding what you are going to do and he/she has to stay away from the monitor(to reduce the chances of mistakes and anxiety)

• Put the ''maintenance in progress'' sign on the monitor screen

• At the FRAMETEQ F-500 put a cardboard box or whatever item to keep interfering with the light barriers(attach a ''maintenance in progress'' sign to this item or box)

• PPE are required(verify the status of you personal safety equipment)

• Check up on the needed tools and their status

• Always watch you hands when using mechanical tools especially with stubborn bolts and nuts(can result to a sever injury after the non controlled release of the tool)

• Check on the ladder before usage if the job is above the machine(fill up the date after finishing)

• Use the ladder properly and watch you steps while trying to reach to that sensor or whatever instrument or module

• Never put yourself between two mechanical parts especially if the parts are mobile both or one of them

• Never work under a weight (if the job demands to crouch under a table for example, use a bracing just in case)

• Inspection is mandatory before leaving the place(no tools shall remain inside the perimeter nor the ladder )
