This procedure ensures the baghouse and dust collector's internal and external components are safely inspected annually to maintain dust collection performance and identify mechanical or safety issues.

Baghouse/Dust Collector Inspection (Annual)

This procedure covers the annual inspection of the baghouse and dust collector system, requiring a confined space permit and LOTO, and verifying rotary arm and drive motor condition, bag/cage integrity, discharge and external housing condition, and door seal function.

    Prior to shutting machine down to Inspect, open a an aspiration airway and enxsure a good vacuum is present

    Main fan, Rotary Arm Motor, and bag air pump will require LOTO.

    Internal Mechanics

    Inspect rotary arm for bearing/ bushing play

    No side to side or up and down play is allowable. Very end of arm may have a little due to length

    Clean debris from fan

    Check bearings on motor for play

    • Pass

    Check clearance between rotary arm and floor where bags are mounted.

    There should be no signs of metal on metal wear

    ISO 220 Oil

    Bag Inspection / Cage Inspection

    Inspect bag retaining area for dirt

    Any dirt or dust buildup is a sign of bag issues

    Visually inspect each bag from top and ensure every bag is secure and present

    Bottom section/ External Inspections

    Inspect discharge of baghouse for wear

    Any marks from hitting from a hammer?

    After inspections are complete, remove locks and verify rotary arm function in top of dust collector

    Arm should rotate freely and smoothly. Air should purge the bags as it hoovers over each bag.

    Close up all doors and verify sealing.

    A tight seal is required for proper dust collector function.
