Pump Preventive Maintenance - Annual

Annual pump preventive maintenance sustains peak efficiency and reduces energy consumption by preventing the gradual performance decline caused by wear. It also proactively identifies potential failures, significantly extending the equipment's lifespan and preventing costly, unplanned downtime.

Perform LOTO of equipment

Check motor bearings for wear or play

Remove coupling and inspect coupling for wear. Replace if needed.

Check that hubs are tight on shaft and set screws are tight.

Check pump shaft play and bearings

Change oil in pump. Do NOT dump oil onto ground. Discard and dispose of oil following EHS policy.

If pump has a gearbox, change oil in gearbox as well w/ ISO 220 oil.

Is the pump seal in good shape? (leaking, damaged)

Check all mounting bolts on pump and motor to verify that they are tight.

Check conduit coming into motor for cracks or exposed wire.

Reinstall coupling and guarding

Unlock and notify operations that equipment is operable.

Ensure all trash, tools and items are picked up and removed from job according to FSQR and housekeeping policy.
