Drive Belt Change and Screw Press

Safety

Lockout/tagout the press
Wear fall protection harness while on top of press
Ensure employees stay clear of area around press to prevent injury from falling debris

if the answer is "oneOf [No]"

Remove bolts securing pillow blocks for flywheel.
Brace the flywheel shaft using lift stands. Lift the shaft until the new belt is able to clear the gap created in the pillow block
Slip 2 belts through the pillow block.
Lower the shaft back down on the pillow block. Secure the pillow block bolts
Wrap one belt around the drive shaft. Secure with duct tape
Follow instructions for belt installation

if the answer is "oneOf [Yes]"

Secure belt around the main flywheel of the press.
Wrap belt around motor pulley
Tension motor just enough to make belt straight, but not stretched.
Manually turn flywheel to spin belt around and work out any folds or creases.
Observe if belt tracks properly on belt sheave. If belt tracks off to one side, adjust motor alignment
Make two marks on the belt 1000 mm (1.00 m) apart
Adjust tension on the motor until the distance between the marks measures 1024mm
Manually rotate the flywheel again, double checking the belt tracks on the pulley
