Hydraulic Cylinder Repair, 2" bore Prince

Cylinder Disassembly

• Print parts list drawing prior to beginning maintenance.

• Remove the 4 tie rods (7) holding the cylinder together, (9/16" wrench)

• Using a mallet gently tap on glands (3 & 4) to loosen from the cylinder body.

• Remove the rod / piston assembly (1,4,5,6) from the cylinder.

• Remove the lock nut (6) at the bottom of the rod that holds the piston (5) on.

• Remove the piston (5).

• Replace crown seal (11) on piston.

• Replace the O-ring (12) that was behind the piston.

• Remove gland (4) from the piston rod (1).

• Remove gland packing making not of how it was installed.

• Install new gland packing (15+16) in the same way old packing was installed.

• Replace O-ring (13) and Back Up Washer (14) on the Butt Gland (3). Set gland down with cylinder seating side facing up. Install the Back Up washer first and then the O-ring.

• Replace O-ring (13) and Back Up Washer (14) on the Head Gland (4). Set gland down with cylinder seating side facing up. Install the Back Up washer first and then the O-ring.

Cylinder Assembly

• Install Head Gland (4) onto Piston Rod (1).

• Install Piston (5) onto Piston Rod (1).

• Install Lock Nut (6) onto Piston Rod (1).

• Insert Piston Rod assembly back into cylinder (2).

• Insert Butt Gland (3) back into cylinder.

• Install the 4 tie rods (7).

Inventory

• Return Cylinder to Inventory.
