Head / Drive Section
Perform LOTO of equipment prior to work start
Visually inspect the motor. Clean motor fins and fan of build up. Ensure hubs is tight on shaft. Listen to make sure it sounds normal when it is running. Take note of anything abnormal.
Visually inspect the reducer. Check the area for leaking oil. If there is evidence of leaking oil, clean it up and check the oil level. Fill as needed. Verify all hubs are tight on shafts. Check alignment of sheaves if necessary.
Screw flighting/ Body/ Trough Inspection
Inspect all inlets and discharges for build up and wear. If transitions need repaired, make repairs if able to be done in timely fashion. If not, make a work order to remove transition and reline/repair.
Remove each hanger bearing and inspect bearing for broken edges, or just normal wear. Replace as needed with proper bearing.
Use chain hoist under the screw reaching to both sides to assist with screw alignment once hanger has been removed.
Inspect hanger assembly for cracks and replace or repair as needed.
Inspect connecting shaft for wear from hanger bearing, shaft should be same diameter as the hanger bearing. Excessive wear will result in a broken connecting shaft.
Inspect screw tubing for cracking around connecting shaft bolts and the plug welds towards the bolt area.
Inspect flighting for cracked welds and make repairs asap if cracks are found in flighting.
Inspect screw tub for wear. Leaks, thin spots, rotted out, are things to look for. If repairs are required, notate which sections need repaired.
Remove one connecting shaft bolt from each side of hanger. Custom made "L" shape wrenches will assist with holding bolt. Replace bolt if worn or threads are damaged.
End plates / Tail Section
Ensure end plates are tight and level with top of trough. Are bearings in good condition? Set screws on bearings tight on shaft?
When finished with checks reinstall covers and make sure screw operates as normal.
