Blow-Mold Preventive Maintenance

Use this procedure for the regular inspection of your blow molding machine and its components not limited to the following: rails, clamps, lube system, chain condition, cylinders, puck and puck roller condition.

    Blow-Mold machine Pm

    Bottle take off

    Vertical round guide rods using a rag wipe down each rod removing old grease that may have dirt and other abrasive materials in it and then reaplly a thin layer of clean grease

    Traverse slide rails

    Using a clean rag wipe down and remove old grease that may have dirt and other abrasive materials in it and then reapply a thin layer of clean grease.

    Mold clamp

    Wipe the hole assembly down with a clean rag. As you wipe down the assembly, look for any of the following.

    where each rod slides thought the back plate are four brass bushings check for brass shavings laying around the area

    Mold clamp

    Check each rod for scaring

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Mold clamp oil lube system

    Check level

    Remove oil soaks and replace

    Check adjustment chain condition.

    Make no adjustment to chain inspection only if damaged immediately notify Maintenance manager

    Is chain loose

    Preform correction cylinder.

    Using a clean rag wipe each guide rod and reapply a thin layer of grease.

    Clean and relubricate guide rods

    Preform carousel chain

    Check the following

    Check carousel drive chain for proper tension

    Preform Carousel chain guide.

    Check chain guides these are just behind mold clamp.

    Look for the following issues on chain guide.

    Puck Teflon rollers

    Check condition of rollers

    Look for the following conditions.

    Puck condition

    Check the pucks outer lip for any damage this may indicate mold miss alinement.

    Check pucks for damage.
