Drive Belts Replacement and Calibration

Maintenance

• Loosen the tensioners one by one to be able the get rid of the remaining pieces of the damaged belt (loosen the two nuts after locking the shafts, after that the shafts them self to distension the belts fully with 24mm wrench and ratchet)

• Store the threaded shafts and nuts, also the little toothed belt pieces already located under ,to lock with the plate groove of the tensioners

• Open the belts middle covers for both sides (using Allen keys and 13mm wrench)

• After marking with a permanent marker the position of there brackets ,loosen (make the bracket up all the way and tighten the bolts a little bit) or take off the upper bearings guides to make possible the take off and the insertion of the old/new belts (using 13mm wrench)

• Dismantle the scrapers and the plates holding the rubbers (track cleaning purpose),to be able to pull and put in the belts (using 13 mm wrench)

• Take off the damaged belts, roll and attach them and store what you can store to use as a spare

• Control and check of the guide rollers, clean the glue using a small cutter blade and finish the work with a sand paper for better roller's surface

• Check and control the tracks ,tensioner to tensioner and clean using a compressed air

• Choose a tensioner side and start rolling the belt until reaching the scraper (Gently insert the belt and follow it through the guide roller to the pulley and then the other guide roller to the other scraper and pull it straight to the other tensioner

• Start tensioning the belt by putting it into the tensioner and don't forget to put the little piece of belt under the toothed belt to lock into the plate's groove

• Tighten both tensioner in a certain way to make it balanced using a 24mm ratchet

• Do the same steps for the other belt

• Once you judge you have a nice tension for both belts (same tension or almost),put the X=0 pins and try to send the bridge slowly to X=500 first ,and take measurement from the scrapers plate to the edge of the X=0 pins

• If there is a discrepancy between the two gantries, interrupt the light barrier and wait until you hear the brakes clicking in order to push manually the bridge to X=0

• Change the encoders set valuesX1M,X1S values to X=0

• Try to send back the bridge to home position and send it again to X=500, and measure

• If the discrepancy remains (you have to see which gantry is not having the right values) the problems are whether with the tensioning or with the new gear factor

• If you are sure the tensioning is not the issue, move the bridge a consistent length like 25000 mm, to auto generate the new gear factor and change it in the source file (you have to restart the machine whenever you modify the source file)

• You might need to change the X values of the tables in the source file ( to make the patterns right where we want them!)

• Make few trails and monitor the results (in regard for each table),well positioned nails ,straight and good cuts are the needed outcomes

• Close the covers

• With a grinder cut the extra length of the belts for both sides
