This procedure outlines the weekly inspection and maintenance of elevator magnets to ensure proper functionality and safety during operation. It includes cleaning and testing magnet strength, checking alignment, and verifying door interlocks and safety responses to maintain reliable elevator performance.
Visual Inspection: Check Magnets for Dust, Coffee bean fragments or Any metallic debris
Clean, wipe magnets with a dry cloth (avoid strong solvents)
Check magnet strength, use small ferous test pipe to confirm holding power
Safety check, ensure elevator doors and interlocks respond correctly to magnent engagement
Alignment check , verify magnets are properly aligned with their contact plates
