SWI: Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Preventive Maintenance

This procedure outlines the required tasks for performing periodic maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFDs) in the facility. It has been specifically designed to be brand-agnostic and can safely be applied to all drives.

    Operational Checks

    Verify HMI/keypad is operational and displays properly.

    Review drive event logs and document abnormal findings, if any.

    Compare parameter settings to baseline configuration and document discrepancies, if any..

    VFD External Inspection and Maintenance

    Verify ambient temperature is within drive specification (below 120F).

    Verify no obstructions exist that impede cooling fan airflow.

    Inspect enclosure gaskets and filters for damage.
