DAF 2 Cleaning

The aim is to remove accumulated sludge, debris, and residue from the dissolved air flotation unit to maintain effective solids separation and reliable operation. Regular cleaning helps prevent blockages, reduce buildup, and support consistent treatment performance while minimizing operational disruptions.

    Staging

    Get ready to clean!

A generator is required when conducting at the 2227 Midway Facility.

This is just to minimize slipping hazards. A deeper clean will be conducted later in the procedure.

Clean out the used hoses at the same time as cleaning the system.

This will reduce the likelihood of a foam out from the DAF.

    Interior Flush

Connect influent to plant water. Direct discharge into the plant's treatment system. Discharge through main discharge and then scum discharge pathway.

AOD should be used to feed the chemistry into the system. Chemistry discharge should be collected in the same tote. Ensure chemistry reaches scum hopper and scum pump. REVTEC FC concentration should be : 10% Discharge through main discharge and then scum discharge pathway.

    Deep cleaning

Remember to store pH sensors in electrode fluid!

    DAF inspection

Examine the DAF blades, scum hopper, LOWER PLATES and other areas of the system. Examine caked on areas, rust or other accumulations of gunk.

    2 COATS MAY BE REQUIRED.

Scrubbing or scraping may be required. A sewer jetter can be used on the lower plates. Ensure drainage of rinsate.

    PFC inspection

Using a borescope or simply breaking unions, check the interior of the PFC through the discharge port.

if the answer is "noneOf [PASS]"

Using a sewer jetter through the discharger port, clean out the PFC.

This is the Final rinse, use soap liberally. Be mindful of smells or areas that need more attention.

    Included holsters for sensors etc.

This may require using a AOD or another suction device to fully drain the hopper or DAF.

Use some magic lube and leave unions loose.

Keep hoses together so they don't wander off.

TURN GENERATOR OFF PRIOR TO DISCONNECTING CABLES.

turn valves back on and plug in the Air Compressor.
