Performing this monthly inspection helps keep forklifts safe, reliable, and compliant by identifying issues such as tire wear, leaks, battery problems, and control malfunctions early—reducing accident risk, avoiding unplanned downtime, and extending equipment life.

Monthly inspection of the Fork lifts.
Exterior of lift including mast
Walk around lift and check things out.
Tire condition
Are the tires in good shape without major chunks missing or uneven tread wear?
if the answer is "oneOf [FLAG]"
Take a picture of the flagged item.
Add or drag pictures
Look over forks.
Are the forks straight and level?
Inspect mast hoses for wear and tear.
Inspect pulleys for damage and ensure bolts are snug.
Look for leaking fluids.
Check for adequate lubrication on fork slides.
Battery area
Inspect for battery acid leaking.
Clean up any minor leaks. This is intended to identify major leaks.
Inspect battery tops for bulging.
Check fill level light.
Pass if light is green. Flag and fill if light is red.
Inspect the battery plugs
Plug contacts should be clean and not pulling out. Connector should be free of cracks or chips.

Hop in and get ready to inspect
Rotate steering wheel fully in both directions.
Is the steering action smooth and trouble free?
Check readout cluster for functionality.
Test the seatbelt quick lock
Pull quickly on the belt and ensure it locks.
Test the horn.
Beep Beep
Check all levers and switches for function and damage.
Test the lights for function and the brackets for damage
Check accelerator pedal function.
Does the pedal move smoothly and does the lift accelerate smoothly.
Check braking function.
Pedal should move smoothly and lift should come to a smooth and even stop. Test at speed.
Check parking brake.
Parking brake should lock and feel firm when reaching the end of the stroke. Park on any available incline and engage brake, lift should not move if lift moves, FLAG and tighten brake. If brake fails to tighten, FAIL. Remove key and inform those affected of the reason for removing from service.
Test full lift, tilt and spread functions.
Look for any leaking oil on top of the cylinders at max extension. Mast should move up and down smoothly and at the desired speed according to the lever position.
