Portable Miller Fume Extractor - Semi Annual
This procedure provides instructions for performing the semi-annual inspection and maintenance of the Portable Miller Fume Extractor to ensure it remains clean, safe, and fully operational. It includes inspection of the filter, spark guard, hoses, and electrical components, as well as cleaning, final operational checks, and technician sign-off.
Preparation
* Safety Glasses * Steel Toe boots / shoes * Hearing Protection (if required in area) * Appropriate gloves (as necessary) * Lock Out / Tag Out (as necessary)
Rags Cleaning solution Filter - 300450 - Airgas Portable vacuum cleaner with HEPA Filter
Procedure / Inspection
Inspect main filter for damage, wear or clogging
Flag = Filter is dirty but able to be cleaned (less than 30 mins) Fail = Filter had to be replaced (part had to be ordered)
Inspect spark guard for broken or damaged wires
Inspect flexible hosing / boots for cracks, wear or damage
Flag = wear noticed, (repair less than 30 mins) Fail = Hosing/boots need to be replaced, (longer than 30 mins)
Inspect electrical plug-in and cable for damage or wear
Flag = wear noticed, (repair less than 30 mins) Fail = Larger repair requiring an electrician (longer than 30 mins)
Final Checks
* Re-install any Panels or components that were removed during Maintenance * Remove Lockout Tagout per Lockout Procedure (as necessary) * Energize all power sources (as necessary) * Return equipment to Operational status (as necessary) * Visually confirm that equipment powered on as intended
