Highcon LOTO Procedure

LOTO is critically important as it ensures worker safety by preventing accidental machine startups or energy releases during maintenance. This procedure outlines the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) process for safely performing maintenance on the HICONN machine. It includes preparation, lockout steps, and lockout release steps to ensure all energy sources are properly isolated and the machine is safe to work on.

    Section #1: Preparation

    Equipment Identification Information

    Disconnect and isolate energy sources

    Section #2: Shutdown and Isolation

    Disconnect and Isolate the energy sources of the Highcon machine

    Main disconnect Laser: E-1

    1. Alert those in the area that you will be securing the equipment to perform maintenance. 2. Move the disconnect lever from the On position to the Off position. 3. Attach a hasp to the disconnect lever. 4. Attach a lock to an open position on the hasp.

    *IF NEEDED DISCONNECT PLUG FOR AN EXTRA LAYER OF PROTECTION* 1. Turn the locking collar and separate the plug There is no lockout device large enough for this plug, place Cap on plug and secure.

    Control Cabinet Rotary Switch: E-3

    1. Turn the Rotary switch from the On position to the Off position. 2. Attach a hasp to the rotary switch. 3. Attach a lock to an open position on the hasp.

    1. Turn the Rotary switch from the On position to the Off position. 2. Attach a hasp to the rotary switch. 3. Attach a lock to an open position on the hasp.

    1. Close Ball valve. 2. Add Ball valve lockout device. 3. Add hasp to Ball valve lockout device. 4. Add lock to hasp.

    1. Close Ball valve. 2. Add Gate valve lockout device. 3. Add hasp to Gate valve lockout device. 4. Add lock to hasp.

    1. Close Gate valve. 2. Add Gate valve lockout device. 3. Add hasp to Gate valve lockout device. 4. Add lock to hasp.

    1. Close Ball valve. 2. Add Ball valve lockout device. 3. Add hasp to Ball valve lockout device. 4. Add lock to hasp.

    Section #3: Lockout Release

    Main disconnect Laser: E-1

    1. Alert those in the area that you will be removing the lock out devices to place the equipment back in operation. 2. Remove the lock from the hasp. 3. Remove the hasp from the disconnect lever. 4. Move the disconnect lever from the OFF position to the ON position.

    *IF NEEDED DISCONNECT PLUG FOR AN EXTRA LAYER OF PROTECTION* Remove the Cover, connect the plug, secure the collar locking device.

    1. Remove lock from hasp. 2. Remove hasp from Gate valve lockout device. 3. Remove Gate valve lockout device from the Gate Valve. 4. Open Gate Valve.

    1. Remove lock from hasp. 2. Remove hasp from Gate valve lockout device. 3. Remove Gate valve lockout device from the Gate Valve. 4. Open Gate Valve.

    Main Air: A-2

    1. Remove lock from hasp 2. Remove hasp from Ball valve lockout device. 3. Remove Ball valve lockout device. 4. Open Ball valve. 5. Alert everyone in the vicinity that you are about to restart the equipment. 6. Restart equipment and monitor for proper operation.
