Hull Pellet Mill Internal Inspection

This procedure covers the internal inspection of the hull pellet mill, checking roll corrugation, die wear, product scraper clearance, oil leaks, roller adjustment bolts, and roller-to-die contact, following LOTO and steam/water shutoff before opening the mill door.

    Inspect roll corrugation.

    Use percentage of corrugation left.

    Inspect Die for wear

    Die should be roughly 1/4" above flange ring on edge of die. If getting close or below ring, replacement is required.

    Inspect product scrapers for wear and adjustment.

    Scrapers should be adjusted to roughly 1/8" from the shell. Rotate die around to verify clearance.

    Inspect behind die for leaking oil.

    • Fail

    Verify that roller adjustment bolts are not seized in housing. Remove and re-antiseize.

    Rotate die around by hand and verify rollers are set correctly.

    Rolls should hit once maybe twice on die and nothing more. If die rolls the entire time, rollers are too tight.
