This Procedure explains how to safely remove print unit rollers for cleaning or replacement using an 8 mm T-wrench. Follow the numbered sequence, unlock and remove rollers carefully, store them properly, and leave fixed-bearing components for Heidelberg service.

This Procedure explains how to safely remove print unit rollers for cleaning or replacement using an 8 mm T-wrench. Follow the numbered sequence, unlock and remove rollers carefully, store them properly, and leave fixed-bearing components for Heidelberg service.
PREPARATION
Tool – Only ever use the 8mm T-wrench to remove the inking rollers. The use of other tools can damage the journal boxes and control elements
Recommended Removal Sequence Numbers 13, 12, down to 1 correspond to the removal sequence of the inking Rollers Ink distributors / dampening distributors A through F and the ink fountain roller are mounted on fixed bearings and shall only be removed by Heidelberg Service
CAUTION Improper handling and storage can lead to roller surface becoming damaged, Rest the rollers on the journals and secure the rollers from rolling.
Roller Storage - Store the rollers in the two box frames as shown to ensure they are not damaged and are contained to avoid rolling
REMOVING THE ROLLERS
Using the T-Wrench lift up the roller lock and swing to one side. Remove the rider roller, roller 13 and place in Roller Storage position 13
-Remove Inking Roller 12 and place in Roller Storage position 12 – Remove Inking Roller 10 and place in Roller Storage position 10
Open the roller locks on both sides D.S and O.S, using the T-wrench and swivel the latch upward. – Remove the ink vibrator roller 11 and place in Roller storage position 11
Open the roller locks on both sides D.S and O.S, using the T-wrench in position 1 and swivel the latch upward. – Remove the inking Roller 9 and place in Roller storage position 9
Open the roller locks on the D.S and O.S –Insert the T-wrench into the borehole on the roller lock on both sides – Push the T-wrench upward releasing the locking device in the roller lock – Swivel the roller lock into the press – The journal box is now accessible – Remove the inking roller 8 from the print unit.
Inking Roller 7 is not locked - remove inking roller 76 from the print unit
Prior to removing inking roller 6, engage the inking rollers 1 through 4 to the printing plate by pressing the ink form rollers ON/OFF button on the printing unit touch screen. – Pull the inking roller out of the bearing guide via the compression point and remove the inking roller from the print unit. NOTE: - when removing the inking roller 6 , ensure you do not damage the roller at the ink fountain.
Open the roller locks on D.S and O.S on both sides, insert the T-wrench and swivel the latch upward. – Remove Rider roller 5 from the printing unit
Prior to removing ink forming rollers 1 through 4 – ensure they are engaged to the print plate. – Open the roller locks on D.S and O.S , insert the T-Wrench and swivel the lock downwards – remove ink roller 4 from the print unit.
Open the roller locks on D.S and O.S , insert the T-Wrench and swivel the lock downwards – remove ink roller 3 from the print unit.
Open the roller locks on D.S and O.S , insert the T-Wrench and swivel the lock downwards – Reach over ink distributor D to grab the inking form roller 2 between the plate cylinder and the ink distributor.- Lift one side of the inking form roller out of the journal box, and roll the inking form roller upwards at the ink distributor. - remove ink roller 3 from the print unit.
Open the roller locks on D.S and O.S , insert the T-Wrench and swivel the lock downwards – oll the inking form roller towards the delivery into the bearing shell of the ink forming roller 2. Grab the ink forming roller 1 between the plate cylinder and the ink distributor D. Lift one side of the ink forming roller out of the journal box, and roll the inking form roller 1 upwards at the ink distribuot – remove the inking form roller 1 from the print unit.
