Cracker Inspection

Roper cracker maintenance ensures consistent particle size for optimal oil yield and quality, while minimizing unplanned downtime and protecting downstream equipment from damage. This routine upkeep directly boosts production efficiency and reduces long-term repair costs.

    Notify operations of work being performed

    Perform LOTO of equipment

    Remove belt guards and roll guards

    Inspect belts for cracks, dry rot, or replace as needed

    Inspect the springs. Are any broke? Spring packs should measure 128mm from end to end when compressed. Adjust as needed.

    Inspect bearing covers for cracks or hot spots

    Ensure bearing cover bolts are tight

    Verify belt alignment and adjust if needed. End caps should be tight to belt pulley.

    Inspect cracking roll corrugation. What percentage of corrugation is left? 75% or more is PASS. 75% to 50% is FLAG. less the 50% is FAIL.

    Inspect feeder and feeder bearings for wear. Using a pry bar to check for play. Replace bearings as needed

    Check oil in feeder gearbox. Refill as needed.

    Inspect saddles/ Product guides for wear and replace or adjust as needed

    Feed gate in good condition and adjustment rods functioning?

    Inspect inlet hopper for build up. Remove build ups as needed.

    Inspect discharge hopper for build ups. Remove build ups as needed.

    Inspect the cover plates/ back plates. Verify adjustment made to them is forcing product into rolls and not allowing product to jump over back of rolls. Adjustment between plate and roll should be 5mm or 3/16"..

    Adjust/ align magnets as needed. Face of magnet should be 5mm from product curtain.

    After inspections have been made, reinstall guarding and belt covers

    Unlock equipment and notify operations of equipment availability
